Hop on your bike and be guided past iconic highlights of the Kortrijk skyline.

Mountain bike routes in and around Kortrijk

Sport Vlaanderen has developed a series of quality MTB routes in and around Kortrijk. Discover the green outskirts of Kortrijk and its surroundings during these sporty routes. Embark on an adventure with the Sjouwers (seasonal workers) and Boerhoven (farms) routes through Kortrijk and its surroundings.

  • Sjouwersroute, 1 loop of 47 km, connection with MTB Kortrijk-Spiere-Helkijn and MTB Wevelgem
  • Boerhovenroute, 3 loops, together 79 km, connection with MTB Kortrijk-Menen, MTB Zwevegem

Choose one of the loops or combine, to your own sporting liking, up to more than 100 km of adventure along the signposted routes (red and blue arrows).

Starting points are sports centre Olympiadeplein in Marke and sports centre Lange Munte in Kortrijk.

Bicycle and kick scooter hire

What could be easier than leaving from your lodging and returning home with your bike? A number of Kortrijk lodges offer additional services to enhance the comfort of their guests, including bicycle rental. Ask about it when booking or during your stay.

Cycling zone

Cars are welcome in the cycle zone but they are not allowed to overtake cyclists and may drive a maximum of 30 km per hour. Cyclists are allowed to use the entire width of the road (in a one-way street) or lane (in a two-way street). You can recognise the bike zone by the red markings and bike logos on the streets. Signposts are placed where you enter the cycle zone.

  • Only pedestrians are allowed to use the full width of the road
  • Exceptions: cyclists, vehicles with transit cards, to load and unload within the loading and unloading times, and taxis.
  • Cyclists and other vehicles travel at walking pace and give way to pedestrians.
  • Playing is allowed, parking is prohibited. Cyclists are not welcome on Saturday afternoons as it is too crowded.
Living street

A speed limit of 20 km per hour applies in the living street. Pedestrians are allowed to use the entire width of the roadway, including for playing. Vehicles and cyclists must adapt. Parking is allowed only in designated parking lanes.

Fietskot - the bicycle hub in the centre of Kortrijk

The building has space for a spacious covered bicycle shed for about 70 bicycles with room for cargo bikes. You can store your helmet or groceries in the lockers or use a charging point for your battery. And there are also the following options:

  • Repair corner to repair your own bike.
  • Vending machine for spare parts (such as different types of inner tubes, locks, lights, etc.).
  • Bpost parcel vending machine
  • Parking place for loaner buggies (these will be delivered in autumn > more info to follow).
  • Lockers to charge your battery (closed for max. 12 hours)
  • Monkey Donkey shared cargo bike rental point
  • The colourful mural is a creation of the local academy's students studying street art.

Open: 7/7 from 6 am to 2 am each time (so only closed for 4 hours)
